Machine Gun Type 92

The Type 92 rifle was a Japanese 7.7 mm calibre heavy machine gun (ckm) of the inter-war and World War II period. Weapons of this type were produced between 1932 and 1941, with approximately 45,000 examples of this rifle being made. The theoretical rate of fire reached 400-450 shots/min and the effective firing range did not exceed 800 metres. The wz.92 rifle was developed to complement the Type 3 Taisho ckm in the line, but also as a new ckm for the Imperial Japanese Army, which in the early 1930s sought to introduce a new 7.7mm calibre cartridge, modelled on the British bullet of the same diameter.
